The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most storied franchises in all of sports, let alone the NBA.? The team has been around since 1948, when they were the Minneapolis Lakers, and they moved to Los Angeles in 1960.? The Lakers have won 15 total championships, 5 in Minnesota and 10 in California, and they have had some of the game?s all-time greats wear their uniform.? Here is a short list of the Lakers? all-time leading scorers:

Jerry West (25,192)?Guard/forward Jerry West is a living legend and currently runs the Lakers? franchise.? He sort of ran the team when he played as well, as his entire career was spent with the Lakers, from 1960 to 1974.? West leads the franchise all-time with 25,192 points, and he had ten seasons with 1500 or more points, and five with more than 2000 points.? West?s best season was 1965-66, when he had a career high 2476 points, an astounding 31 per game.? He also led the NBA in free throws that season, with 840.?

Kobe Bryant (24,914)?Guard Kobe Bryant is widely considered to be not only one of today?s great players, but one of the NBA?s greatest players ever.? Bryant has played with the Lakers since 1996 when he entered the league at the tender age of 18.? He ranks second in team history with 24,914 points, and is closing in on Jerry West?s franchise record as I write this in 2010.? Bryant has scored over 2000 points six times, and has led the NBA in scoring four times.? His best season was 2005-06, when Bryant had a career high 2832 points for a whopping 35 points per game average, and the 2832 points ranks seventh in NBA history for a single season.?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (24,176)?Center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played for the Lakers most of his career, from 1975 to 1989, and he ranks third in franchise history with 24,176 points scored.? Abdul-Jabbar led the NBA in scoring three times, but all three were when he was with Milwaukee.? His best season in a Lakers? uniform was 1975-76, when he scored 2275 points (28 points per game), and that season Abdul-Jabbar also led the league with 1383 total rebounds.?

Elgin Baylor (23,149)?Forward Elgin Baylor played for the Lakers his entire career, beginning in 1958 in Minneapolis and continuing in Los Angeles through 1972.? Baylor ranks fourth in Lakers? history with 23,149 points, and he scored over 2000 points five times.? Baylor?s best season was 1962-63, when he scored 2719 points (34 points per game average).

Magic Johnson (17,707)?Guard/forward Magic Johnson was also one of the game?s all-time great players, and he played his entire career in Los Angeles, from 1979 to 1991 and again in 1995-96.? Johnson ranks fifth in Lakers? history with 17,707 points and he scored over 1500 points four times in his career.? Johnson?s best season was 1986-87, when he scored 1909 points for a 24 points-per-game average.? That season, Johnson also led the NBA in assists with 977.?
