Hornets? Career Point Scoring Leaders

61

Dell Curry

David Wesley

The Hornets began play as an NBA franchise in 1989, in Charlotte.? They then moved to New Orleans in 2003, and have been there since, save for a couple of seasons where they played home games in Oklahoma City following Hurricane Katrina.? The franchise has a total of 11 playoff appearances, but no championships just yet.? But they have surely had some talented offensive players, including current NBA stars Chris Paul and David West.? Here is a short list of the Hornets? leading point scorers to date:

Dell Curry (9839)?Guard Dell Curry played most of his career in Charlotte, from 1988 to 1998, and he ranks first in Hornets? history with 9839 total points.? Curry is the father of current NBA player and Davidson College standout Stephen Curry, who plays for the Golden State Warriors.? Curry had his best seasons in Charlotte, scoring over 1000 points six times with them.? His best season was 1993-94, when Curry racked up a career best 1335 points (16 per game).?

David Wesley (7670)?Guard David Wesley played for the Hornets most of his career, in both Charlotte from 1997 to 2002 and in New Orleans from 2002 to 2005.? Wesley ranks second in franchise history with 7670 points, and his best season was with Charlotte in 2000-01.? That year, Wesley scored a career high 1414 points (17 points per game).?

Larry Johnson (7405)?Forward Larry Johnson played for Charlotte from 1991 to 1996 and in that short time, racked up 7405 points, ranking him third in team history.? Johnson had his four best offensive seasons in Charlotte, and his best of those was 1992-93, when he scored a career best 1810 points (22 per game, with a .526 field goal percentage).?

David West (6771)?Forward David West has spent his entire career thus far with the New Orleans (and Oklahoma City) Hornets, since coming into the league in 2003, and he?s with them now as I write this in 2010.? West ranks fourth in team history with 6771 points and his best season so far was 2008-09, when he scored a career high 1593 points (21 points per game).?

Chris Paul (6602)?Guard Chris Paul is one of the NBA?s bright young stars, and though he?s only been in the league since 2005 (all with New Orleans), Paul is already ranked fifth in franchise history with 6602 points.? His best season offensively so far was 2008-09, when Paul scored a career best 1781 points (23 per game).? He also led the league that year in assists (861) and steals (216).? Indeed, Paul is a very complete basketball player.?
